68 Redux

Boy I can't wait for the Democratic convention this summer. Al Sharpton has already said he is going to mobilize and disrupt it if brother Barack is not crowned by the Super Delegates. And check out these freaks www.recreate68.org (link in title above). And boy don't you know they (the super delegates) are sweating bullets. Crazy Howard has given them the ultimatum to declare by June. But no one in the party seems to take him seriously about anything. But what are they to do? Will they give it to Obama and risk political suicide, and possibly a suspicious death at the hands of some Klinton Inc. thugs? Or do they hand it to Hillary, and risk political suicide, and piss off their bread and butter wackos and special interest groups. They know that they can’t win the White House either way.

So now it’s about whom they need more, African Americans, or Chicks. Poor uneducated white people or over educated rich snots. Who ever the Dems crown the winner, someone is going to be pissed off.

Which should make for good TV this summer. Most of what I know about the 68 Chicago Democratic Convention is from first hand accounts that I read from Hunter S. Thompson. And to me he is the gospel authority. It would be a fitting tribute to the man if this year we see riots in the streets, tear gas being shot, water cannons blasting people, and police knocking heads considering the convention will take place a mere 150 miles from Owl Farm.

Ah, one can only hope. Thank goodness for C-SPAN.

C U LA TOUR

Ministry rolled into Tremont Music Hall in Charlotte NC Thursday on their C U LA TOUR. Al Jorgenson has said this will be the final installment of the Ministry saga. I decided that this would be a show that if I missed I would regret. I made the trip and was rewarded with a show that was unequalled in intensity. From the fist pumping drumbeats of Rio Grande Blood, to the sensory overload of Just One Fix, Uncle Al gave his all.

I saw Ministry back in 93; I think it was some incarnation of Lollapalooza. Al and company stole the show. The show Thursday was even better because of the venue.
Tremont Music Hall really is my kind of place. It’s big enough to host bands like Ministry but still has the look and feel of a dive bar. The audience this night was an eclectic mix of metal heads, Goth kids, and old school head bangers like myself. We all watched and listened as Uncle Al preached the word of corrupt politicians, government run amok, and the politics of greed.

I hope this will not be the end of Al’s musical aspirations entirely. My guess is that it won’t be. I’m sure he will still have his finger in fire with some of his other bands. (Revolting Cocks, Pig Face, and others)

Here is the good news though the Bush family seems to be Uncle Al’s muse for Ministry,
And we still have Jeb and few others from the Bush clan who might just fuck up enough to lull Ministry back in the studio.

Happy Earth Day

Today is kind of like Christmas to the religion of Eco freaks and hippies. And yes it is a religion, because to believe a lot of the nonsense that these people spout off about, you have to have a lot of faith. Above is just a few examples of what this movement is really all about.

I celebrated earth day by sitting in my parked truck with the engine running, air going full blast, eating my non free range chicken sandwich, drinking from a non biodegradable styrofoam cup, as I listened to right wing talk radio.

The Sound Of My Youth

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080416/music_nm/subpop_dc_1;_ylt=ApqrHTCctLQicWXK2WKNaakE1vAI

Sub Pop Records celebrates its 20 anniversary this month. This is the label that signed all those Seattle grunge type bands back in the 80’s, which turned into a phenomenon in the 90’s. Sub Pop along with IRS records was arguably two of the most important record labels of the modern era. (Think Motown and Stax for rich white college kids.)

In other music news, I picked up the Allison Krause/Robert Plant album Raising Sand yesterday. One of the best albums I have heard in the past year. Of course Allison Krause could do an album of Yiddish throat music and it would sound great. Add the raspy “voice of the gods” in Plant, the production genius of T-Bone Burnett, and the songs of Tom Waits, Towns Van Zandt, Sam Phillips and many more and it makes for one of the most pleasant listening experiences you will have.

Obama The Hate Monger

It’s looking more and more like Obama has a lot more in common with Preacher Wright then he has let on. But at least he is showing his true colors. His comments in San Francisco last week show what kind of utter contempt that Obama and more importantly the Democratic Party has for working class people. The man basically called me, my family, most of my friends and neighbors ignorant, racist, gun toting, Jesus freaks.

This man and his party as well as the Republicans are so out of touch with the American people that I fear anything other than a third party revolution will result this great country turning into a cesspool of European Socialism and Marxism.

Every time a left leaning politician talks it seems like they are trying to make me feel guilty about not needing a government hand out. Like I must be doing something to wrong because I’m not on welfare, or take food stamps. I’m just one of the stubborn agitators who just wont except that the government knows what’s better for me than I do.

It really is time for change, but not the change Obama, Clinton, or McCain want to force on us.

The African Qustion

George W. Bush has wasted more money in Africa than any sitting president to date. And that is saying a lot considering his predecessors. Remember back in the 80’s when it was hip to get a bunch of rich musicians together to record songs about starving Ethiopians? They raised a bunch of money also. And much like our own government, at the end of the day the money, once allocated could not be accounted for.

I have read that for every dollar in aid sent to an African country, up 99 cents is put directly in the pocket of some warlord or corrupt ruler. Why then should we continue to waste money in this bottomless pit of despair? Because this is the United States, we are Americans and this is what we do. And more importantly it is a politically necessary.

Dub’ya has spent more than Bubba. Bubba spent more than Daddy Bush, Daddy Bush spent more than The Gipper, The Gipper spent more than the Peanut Farmer and McCain will spend more than Dub’ya. And for all the good this money does we could have just used it as toilet paper, flushed it and got a better use out of it.

It is still hip for famous people to try and help Africa. Bono, Angelina and Brad, Madonna, and the names go on and on. Bono is probably the most sincere about it. His debt relief proposals are sound. Besides why hang tons of debts on countries that will never be able to pay it back because of their insistence on staying in the dark ages? But most just use the plight of the African continent as a backdrop for self-promotion. Or in Madonna and Angelina’s case, use African orphans like Gucci bags, just accessories to be used for photo ops.

Between the constant wars, famine and the AIDS epidemic, the Dark Continent will suffocate under it’s on weight within a few decades. And no amount of money will help this. But we will still send it because this is the United States, we are Americans and we will try to help, no matter how futile the cause.

Kids These Days…

http://www.ajc.com/metro/content/metro/stories/2008/04/01/threat_0401.html?cxntlid=homepage_tab_newstab

Who ever said kids today are not motivated should take a gander at these “little angles”.

I think we are looking at this the wrong way. Look at the leadership skills these little snot nosed bastards possess at such an early age. We should be rewarding these "miracles of life" for having the intellect and qualities is takes to plan a murder.
