I would like to officially endorse Neil deGrasse Tyson as a write in candidate for president. I think he may be the smartest man on earth. When I say smart I mean Stephen Hawking smart, not Jon Stewart “smart”. If anyone has watched The Universe on the History Channel you will know whom I’m talking about. He has a way of taking the most complex theories about astrophysics and explaining them in a way a dumb ass like me can understand.
I think it’s time we had a smart person in the Oval Office. Not since the founding fathers have we truly had anyone with any intelligence hold public office. Oh sure we’ve had a few fake it. I mean Clinton had a lot of people (including myself) fooled in to thinking he was smart. A lot of people on the right looked at Ragan as if he was a genius. For the most part though, every politician since the great Thomas Jefferson have probably been borderline mentally retarded just based on decisions that have been made by them.
What would our world be like if our politicians had the foresight and intelligence to look ahead and think about how the decisions they make will affect people, not just now but in the future?
Just something to think about next time you watch a presidential debate.

The Grammys
I did not watch the Grammys. I have had no interest since the Bee Gees lost their relevance. It does look like a mistake was made by the academy last night though. They awarded the album of the year gramophone to an actual musician, Herbie Hancock. Now mind you he did win for an album of Joni Mitchell’s music, but I wont hold that against him. He is still one of the best modern jazz musicians today. (Plus he did that awesome song Rocket back in the 80’s, Moog rules!)
This does mark a change though, as in the past few decades the Grammy’s have been more about fashion, and record sales than about musicianship and talent.
I guess every now and then the academy has to throw a bone to someone talented instead of just fallating the Maroon 5’s, Usher’s, John Mayer’s and whatever Emo band is the flavor of the day.

Who Won? Who Knows?
If you would have told me this past November John McCain in all likely hood was going to be the nominee for the republicans I would have laughed in your face. Of course he didn’t do to well in the south. And like I have said before you are not allowed to be President unless we in the south say so.
The picture is not so clear on the democratic side. Obama had a decent showing among cracker men, (aka honkies, aka “the man”) especially in the south. If it wasn’t for the Latino vote the night would have been a disaster for Clinton. I have not seen a truly accurate delegate count, but it looks like the difference is going to be about 150 to 200 in Hillary’s favor. Not a lot coming out of Super Tuesday, and nothing Obama cant over come.

No Soup For You Tuesday
Tomorrow is the Super Bowl for political junkies. I’m still not convinced we will know whom the nominees are going to be come Wednesday morning. But it’s going to be fun watching the talking heads in the media cream their pants trying to figure out whom the frontrunner will be.
According to a friend of mine who keeps up with the polls more than I do California is totally up in the air. This is not surprising of course. This is the biggest of battle ground states. http://www.usaelectionpolls.com/2008/california.html
According to some polls I have looked at Clinton and Obama are in a statistical dead heat. And on the Republican side Romney has a slight edge. In both cases it looks like it will come down to the undecided voters.
I still remain hopeful that we will be swallowed up by a black hole between now and November, so that we may be spared the indignity of having to choose between two idiots who want control of our great nuclear arsenal.

Is The Fix In?
Man, I don’t think Hilary has been spanked like she was in the South Carolina primary since that steamy night in Arkansas when Bill finally got his sausage stinky inside her leathery inflamed labia.
I have to say I was surprised, not that Obama won, but his margin of victory. Hopefully this momentum will follow him to Super Tuesday.
Florida is another matter, it is estimated that over 40,000 votes have already been cast, most of them I would imagine for Clinton. I haven’t seen any raw numbers from Florida, hopefully there are still a good number of uncommitted voters down there who will use the SC victory as a factor and give Obama the win.
Of course this is Florida and as we know from recent history, the citizens can be, to put in as nice of words as I can, MORONIC F#&%ING IDIOTS WHO WOULDN’T KNOW THEIR HEAD FROM THEIR ASS MUCH LESS FIGURE OUT HOW TO PROPERLY CAST A BALLET.
With that said I hope the Obama camp has plenty of pole observers and some good lawyers on retainer, because Clinton has to win Florida, and I’m sure she will do anything to do just that.

Decisions
I’m not sure what I will do for the primaries. My options are; to vote against Huckabee in the Republican primary, or to vote against Clinton and Edwards in the Democratic primary, or try to commit voter fraud and vote in both. The two parties have made the third option very viable this year by splitting up the dates in which the contests will be held. And considering most polling places are ran by our beloved senior citizen brigade of volunteers, it is very conceivable that I could get away with it.
We don’t have to register party affiliation in South Carolina. And I have always felt that we as voters should be able to vote in both parties’ primaries. And why shouldn’t we? Unfortunately we have only a two party system. By saying you can only vote in one primary, what it tells me is I only have about a fifty percent interest in who should be president. If I was a Republican and I knew that the Democrats had a better chance at winning the general election why wouldn’t I want to have my say about who would do a better job. And the same goes for Democrats.
As a member of the Bull-Moose party, I know that my write in candidate has no chance of winning, So I should at least have some say in what the out come will be. And the primaries are the only chance I have.
